At Docora, privacy is foundational to how we built our product. Your document files stay on your computer-we never upload, store, or have access to them. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what we send to our AI partners for processing, and how we protect your privacy.
Files Stay Local
Your document files (.pdf, .docx, etc.) are never uploaded or stored on external servers. They remain on your device.
Nothing Stored or Trained
Text sent to our AI partners for search is processed in real-time and immediately discarded. Never stored, never used for training.
What We Don't Store
- Your document files - PDFs, Word docs, spreadsheets, and presentations are never uploaded or stored externally
- File names or paths - We don't know what files you have or where they're stored on your device
- Processed text - Text sent to our AI partners is processed in real-time and immediately discarded, never stored
What We Do Collect
Account Information
If you create an account for Pro features, we collect your email address through our authentication provider (Clerk). This is used solely for account management and subscription billing.
AI Processing for Search
When you index documents and perform searches, text content from your documents is processed by our AI partners to enable natural language search. This includes:
- • Voyage AI - generates semantic embeddings from document text
- • OpenAI - processes your questions and provides intelligent answers
- • Cohere - ranks search results for relevance
Important: This data is processed in real-time and immediately discarded. It is never stored, never used for AI training, and never sold. Your actual document files (.pdf, .docx, etc.) are never uploaded-only the extracted text needed for search functionality.
Usage Analytics (Optional)
We may collect anonymous usage statistics (e.g., app opens, feature usage) to improve Docora. This never includes document content or personal information. You can opt out in settings.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Clerk - Authentication service that stores your email for account management
- Voyage AI - Embedding service that processes document text to enable semantic search (data processed in real-time, not stored)
- OpenAI - AI service that processes your questions and document context to provide intelligent answers (data processed in real-time, not stored)
- Cohere - AI service that ranks search results for relevance (data processed in real-time, not stored)
- Stripe - Payment processor for Pro subscriptions (we don't store payment details)
- Supabase - Backend service for optional usage analytics (if enabled)
Data Security
Your document files are protected by your operating system's security and never leave your device. The indexed search data (embeddings) is stored locally on your computer. When text is sent to our AI partners for processing, it is transmitted securely via HTTPS and immediately discarded after processing-it is never stored on external servers.
Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app settings. Since your documents are never uploaded, there's nothing to delete on our servers. Your local index can be cleared from within the app.
